On one of our recent buying trips we have come across this amazing grain storage chest from the Swat Valley in Pakistan. An interesting decorative piece for the home and getting more difficult to find these days.
This household grain storage chest is constructed without the use of nails from cedar wood with finials in traditional “minaret” style and front strap detailing.
Grain was added via the top opening and taken from the lower opening as needed for cooking. Upper Swat Valley, Kohistan, Pakistan. Circa 1900.
